This Privacy Policy describes how Heathen House (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Heathen Scale mobile application (the “App”). Heathen Scale is published by Dempsey Goodwin, trading as Heathen House.
Heathen Scale keeps your information on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, and no Heathen Scale server that stores your weight. We do not collect your data, because your data never reaches us. If you delete the App, your readings go with it.
Everything below is written to a database on your device and stays there.
Nowhere.
The App does not transmit your information to us, to the scale manufacturer, or to anyone else. It has no user accounts, no sign-in and no server, and it runs entirely offline. The Android build is not granted internet access at all.
We do not use analytics, advertising, advertising identifiers, crash reporting, tracking or third-party data services of any kind. We do not sell, rent or share your information, because we do not have it.
If your phone’s own backup is switched on — iCloud Backup on iOS, or Google’s backup on Android — your phone’s operating system may include this App’s database in that backup. That backup belongs to you and to Apple or Google, and is governed by their terms rather than ours. You can exclude it in your device’s own backup settings.
The App uses Bluetooth for one purpose: to connect to your scale and receive your weight and impedance readings. Those readings travel from the scale to your phone and no further.
Bluetooth is not used for location, advertising or identification. On Android the App declares its Bluetooth scanning as never being used to derive location. Older versions of Android required a location permission in order to scan for Bluetooth devices at all; on those versions only, the permission may be requested. We do not record your location and have no location data to give to anybody.
Guest readings are saved on the device under their own separate identity. They are not shown in the owner’s history, the owner’s charts, or the owner’s exported data. Deleting the owner’s data deletes them too.
You can delete individual readings, and you can delete everything the App has stored, from Settings. Deletion is permanent. Because nothing is kept on a server, nothing can be restored afterwards, and we cannot recover it for you.
You can export your readings to a CSV file. An export leaves your phone only if you choose to send or save it somewhere yourself. What happens to that file afterwards is outside our control.
Uninstalling the App removes its database from your device.
Heathen Scale is not intended for anyone under 13, and the App will not accept a date of birth that makes the user younger than 13.
Heathen Scale is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Body-composition figures are estimates calculated from your weight, your impedance reading and the profile details you entered. They are not clinical measurements and should not be used to diagnose, treat or make decisions about a medical condition.
The scale passes a small electrical current through the body to measure impedance. Do not use the body-composition function if you have a pacemaker or any other implanted electronic device. Impedance readings are not recommended during pregnancy; weight works normally, and body-composition estimates can be switched off in the App. Talk to a doctor about anything that concerns you.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. If a future version of the App ever sends data off your device, this policy will be updated to say so before that version is released.
